Lead Senior Security Engineer – Hybrid

Job Title: Lead Senior Security Engineer
Location: 290/Beltway area of Houston, TX- 4 days ON-SITE work schedule with Fridays remote.
SALARY: $150-160K plus bonus

Lead the global company’s security initiatives. Configure, Implement, and maintain cutting-edge security solutions to protect our systems and data. Also provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Keep up with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices, and ensure our defenses are always one step ahead.

Responsibilities
• Maintain, enhance and troubleshoot the security infrastructure across endpoint, network, application, and cloud security tools.
• Provide technical mentorship and training to other engineers on the team.
• Ensure that the organization’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls.
• Maintain awareness of and respond to cybersecurity trends, best practices, threats, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• Identify and communicate potential threats to information assets.
• Maintain security standards and procedures.
• Participate in the change management process.
• Clearly and effectively communicate security controls and processes to stakeholders of various technical proficiencies.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, MIS, information technology, related field, or equivalent education/experience
• 6 plus years of professional experience in cyber security
• Experience implementing, maintaining, and improving IT security platforms and technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex security issues.
• Working knowledge of authentication and access systems, system logging, and event correlation tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and lead security initiatives.
• Knowledgeable of industry and threat landscape changes.

Technical Skills & Competencies (Advantageous)
• Certifications that are a PLUS:
o CompTIA Security +
o GIAC Security Essentials CISSP
o Other advanced SANS certification(s) preferred but not required.
• Experience with automating routine work and configuration management via scripting, platform native automations, API calls, etc.
