Oracle Database Administrator – Hybrid

Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator
Location: Hybrid setup, with M/F flexible and T/W/T in the Irvine office with possible production responsibility that may create times when the person needs to be onsite on a Monday or Friday or even a weekend for upgrades and such
Rate: Salary: $250k to $350K in base.
Visa: USC, GC

Knowledge and experience preferred:
Financial services industry experience strongly preferred.

Must have:
• At least 10 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database administrator.
• Prior work in data center with large data storage of at least 100TB strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge about Oracle database, processes, and structures.
• Deep knowledge about Linux/Unix.
• Ability to backup and restore objects, databases, and files with no supervision.
• Experience and deep knowledge in Exadata.
• Deep experience with Dataguard technology.
• Ability to work with users/developers in a fast paced environment.
• Humility to accept the knowledge gap and strive to reduce the knowledge gap.
• Enjoy working with databases and continue to enjoy working with databases.
• Desire to learn new technologies, new features, and responsiveness.
• Python and/or Unix programming.
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is a MUST HAVE

Nice to have:
• Ability to write better SQL and suggests improvements
• Experience with Oracle enterprise manager
• Exposure to Oracle database appliance.
• MySql knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge about performance tuning both at the database level and SQL level.
• Exposure to any scheduling tools.
• Exposure to tableau and/or tableau workload.

Skills and Requirements
A successful candidate for the Principal Oracle Database Administrator role will demonstrate superior knowledge and experience in supporting and managing mission critical database environments. Expertise should include proficiency in a variety of database related tools and technologies, as well as a deep fundamental understanding of database administration and related concepts. The DBA will work closely with a team of technologists, engineers, and quantitative researchers, and will partner with all of these groups to support and maintain a high-powered technical environment.

We expect successful candidates to have demonstrable expertise in several of the following general areas:
• Databases: strong experience working with relational databases (especially Oracle), including scripting, data modeling and database design.
• Database Administration: expertise in designing, managing and supporting mission critical Oracle database environments (production, development, and test).
• Exadata: experience or familiarity with Exadata, ZFS appliances and RAC.
• Problem Solving: a proven ability to apply mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering discipline to a variety of complex hypothetical and real world problems.
• Large software systems: experience architecting and implementing software systems, as well experience with design, specification, and development.
• Programming languages: strong experience developing data management applications with languages such as Java, C/C++, or similar.
• System tools: experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell scripts, etc.), and Unix-based operating systems (especially Linux).
