About The Role:
We are looking for a Network design and configuration engineer focused on designing high availability networks to join our team. The goal of a network design and configuration engineer at Wisk is to work with a team of systems engineers and integrators, in addition to software engineers and developers, to define network installation design, equipment layout and facility requirements our Remote Supervision Segment (RSS) through early stage development, ensuring that our autonomous aircraft performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility (UAM) environment. You will validate, prototype, and manage ground system network architectures, including lab environments and supplier-integrated systems. This role spans architecture, configuration management, high-availability design, and integration support. You will also build and manage the Lab networks through hands-on work.
The candidate should be proactive, self-motivated, able to work in ambiguous situations, and have good prioritization skills.
Work Location (Onsite/Hybrid): HQ, T1, T2, T3, Hollister 1, Hollister 2, Fremont 1, Fremont 2
Level: P3: 5+ years of experience, Client will provide CA mileage reimbursement for travel to sites outside of main office.

What you will do:
• Validate ground system network design and produce detailed architecture specifications
• Define high-availability and observability requirements across various ground systems and supplier-connected systems
• Prototype and manage integration lab network environments
• Maintain routing and firewall policies supporting lab and satcom testing
• Ensure supplier system architectures and requirements comply with industry safety and development assurance standards (e.g., ARP 4754B)
• Define return-to-service procedures and service interface agreements
• Support ground system integrations
• Develop installation layouts, operator procedures, and configuration documentation (later phase support)
Requirements
• 8+ years of experience designing production network systems
• Strong experience with high-availability architectures
• Hands-on routing and firewall configuration experience
• Experience supporting integration labs or prototype environments
• Strong Hands-on Routing & Switching preferred on Juniper Platforms.
• Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, and MPLS concepts.
• Multi-site and partner connectivity ecosystems
• Strong configuration management and technical documentation skills

Position Summary
This role is responsible for owning and evolving critical infrastructure across lab and development environments. The individual will lead network design, implementation, testing, and long-term scalability planning, supporting both current operations and future program growth.
Core Responsibilities
• Own and manage end-to-end infrastructure environments
• Design, implement, and maintain IT networks for development labs
• Interface directly with engineering development benches and lab systems
• Support and test network infrastructure build-out for expanding lab environments
• Develop and maintain custom integrations and software solutions across vendors/suppliers
• Manage and optimize two distinct network infrastructures
• Ensure infrastructure aligns with security and compliance standards (ISO 27001/20001 context)
• Drive multi-year infrastructure strategy and planning
• Improve and streamline communication across technical teams and stakeholders

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
• Experience in aviation or aerospace network environments

• Familiarity with complex lab or R&D infrastructure
• Juniper experience is helpful but not required
Candidate Profile
• ~8+ years of experience in network/infrastructure engineering
• Ability to work independently with minimal to no handholding
o P3 level: Some guidance required
o P4 level: Fully autonomous, leads solutions end-to-end
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable solutions
• Highly self-driven and proactive
• Comfortable gathering requirements and driving long-term roadmaps
• Strong communicator who can bridge gaps between teams
Work Environment
• Primary location: Mountain View
• Secondary site: Hollister (occasional travel required)
• Onsite expectation:
o Hybrid model
o Minimum 3 days/week onsite
o Must be available to come onsite for urgent issues as needed
