Java / Backend Developer

JOB TITLE: Java / Backend Developer
Duration: 6+ Months- Long term role
Rate: Up to 80/hr on Vendor W2 – Try to be competitive rate
Location: Austin, TX or San Jose, CA- 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

Position Overview:
We’re seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development expertise and collaborate with architects, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that drive business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Product Development: Build and maintain backend systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Code Quality: Conduct code reviews, ensure code performance, security, and implement/maintain automated testing frameworks.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices; drive innovation and improvements across the team.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation (code, APIs, processes).

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, with a strong focus on Java.

Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Java, with frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Strong foundation in data structures, OOP, and algorithms.
• Experience with RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databases.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on with tools like IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
• Experience with real-time online transaction processing and asynchronous systems.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and code craftsmanship skills.
• Familiarity with Git (or similar versioning tools).
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of front-end technologies such as React, Express, Node.js.
• (Preferred) Background in payments or financial services.
