Job Title: PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with Capital Markets
Duration: 12+ Months
Location: Hybrid/Midtown Jersey City, NJ | New York, NY | Charlotte, NC 2 days a week.
Rate: $55-60/hr on W2 or $60-70/hr on C2C to their own Inc

We need: A senior (10+ years) PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain our enterprise database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with PostgreSQL in production environments, with a strong focus on performance tuning, high availability, and data integrity. Familiarity with MongoDB is a plus.
Contract status: C-C preferred or W2+ Referral.

Candidates must be LOCAL to the Jersey City, NJ | New York, NY | Charlotte, NC area and COMMUTE into the office TWO TIMES A WEEK. NO RELOCATION CONSIDERED. Candidate Must Have’s on a resume and for submittal:

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments
• Design and manage database replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
• Perform tuning and optimization of queries, indexes, and performance parameters
• Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure database health and availability
• Partner with application and infrastructure teams to support development and deployment workflows
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to availability, performance, and data consistency
• Create and maintain documentation for standard procedures, processes, and configurations
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards
• Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to critical incidents

Qualifications:
• 5–6 years of experience as a Postgres DBA in a production environment
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL internals, configuration, and administration
• Experience with logical and physical replication, high availability, and failover strategies
• Skilled in database performance tuning and query optimization
• Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• MongoDB experience is a plus
• Experience in a financial services or regulated environment preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of pgAdmin, Patroni, pgBouncer, pgBackRest, or similar Postgres tooling
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and version control systems
• Understanding of data security and auditing best practices
