Job Title: Technical Consulting Engineer – Optical
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Richardson, Texas, US – Onsite – 2 days a week
Rate: Upto $75/hr on Vendor W2
Needs to be onsite Cisco NCS1K and NCS2K
Job Description:
What You’ll Do
Provide second/third level technical support for Optical and Data/IP technologies to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other TAC engineers with focus on Cisco NCS1K and NCS2K Platforms. Apply analytical skills and technical knowledge to tackle product and network problems of moderate to high complexity.
o You will provide technical support on a world-wide basis
o Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors
o Provide technology/product/troubleshooting training and intellectual property material as the need arises
o Act as a focal point for large account network problem resolution
o Effectively utilize moderate to complex lab setups to recreate and solve problems
o Submit complete and accurate defect reports in the area of expertise
o Interact across TAC teams and development teams at peer level
o Receive minimal direction, no instruction on routine work, and general instruction on new assignments
Who You’ll Work With
US Optical HTTS team covering Premium customers. This team also helps the US AS Optical talent pool. Typically work with lower-level CSE’s, VARs, OEMs, Service Providers, end-users & internal engineering departments
Optical Technology refreshes with new IP+Optical platforms, below are some examples:
o Optical platforms such as NCS1K, NCS2K, NCS4K. Verizon, Charter, ATT and US Signal are some of our key customers. This platform brings Optical + IP customers on one single platform and introduces Optical SDN controller
Who You Are

o Strong background in Troubleshooting and Resolving Optical Networking/DWDM Equipment
o In-Depth knowledge of Cisco NCS1K, NCS2K and XR based platforms.
o Ability to Communicate effectively both verbally and written
o Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and identify problems delivering solutions
o Abilty to determine root cause and resolution for previously unknown problems
o Ability to work effectively with and provide mentorship to other members of the workgroup
o Experience with handling and resolving critical customer issues/problems
o Working with multi-functional teams
o Presentation skills
o Previous Customer Support experience
o Database experience (Oracle, SQL, Sybase)
o Unix experience
o CCOS certification (either SONET or SDH)
o CCNA, CCNP, or higher networking certification
o BS in CS or EE or equivalent experience
Minimum Qualifications
o 5+ years with one or more Optical skills (DWDM, MSTP, ROADM, RAMAN, etc)
